About

Samaiyah Abdur-Rahman, the 24 year old owner & founder of SJL Creations LC. She graduated high school from Southfield High School for the Arts and Technology. After high school Samayiah studied at Oakland Community College. After leaving OCC she participated in AmeriCorps NCCC FEMA. She is now planning on studying at Oakland Unviersity for Art Studio K-12 Education Fall 2024.

Since she was a child, she always found interest in Fine Arts. She even remembers drawing the dandelions from her yard. In 2017, she rekindled that fire and started creating more crafts. In 2019, she re-branded her business formally known as Sam's Jars & Letters to create SJL Creations LC. This new venture of painting and creating has helped relieve her from anxiety and depression. Painting is one of her healthy coping mechanisms. The colors she choosses for her paintings are based on her emotions. Each painting is handmade by Samaiyah with love and care. 

Sam says, "I am grateful to share my gifts to the world. By supporting SJL Creations LC you are supporting my health, my life, and my fight."
